If you are unfamiliar with the rules of cricket a simple synopsis would be: The game of cricket contains two teams of eleven team members. The cricket pitch is in a oblong shape. Within the centre of the pitch there is the wicket. The wicket has three stumps and across the wickets is laid crossbars or 'bails'. The area near the pitch’s centre is referred to as the infield. The area beyond the infield is the outfield. One cricket team will bat first and the other team will be dispersed in the field. The first team to bat in a cricket match is often determined through the toss of a coin. There are two batsman that bat instead of a single batsman and the opposite cricket team member delivering the ball is the bowler. Batsman are positioned at the wickets at the opposite ends of the pitch, just in front of the wickets, and the batsman will attempt to hit the ball in order to score as many runs as possible. The bowler will attempt to knock down the bails or 'bowl out' the batsman.
There are several rounds in cricket referred to as innings. Cricket players wear protective gear and special spiked shoes to get better traction when running in the field. In the game of cricket the main goal of each team member on a cricket team is to score runs for the team without getting caught or bowled out. The team that manages to accumulate the most runs in the game wins.
